A report presenting the detailed findings of our ‘2015 Adult Salmon Scale Sampling Programme’, the second year of sampling in the catchment, can be viewed by clicking on the cover image to the right.
The report includes a description of the basic markings and structure of fish scales, scale ageing techniques and the sampling procedures employed. It presents the results of the 2015 sampling programme; including the numbers and quality of scale samples submitted and analysis of the resulting data in terms of age composition and run timing. Finally, the report looks at practical management applications of the scale ageing data and makes recommendations for future years.
